Christmas day is around the corner. In the street, the affable Santa Clauses can be seen everywhere. The popularity of Christmas Day is not inferior to our traditional festivals. Not only Christmas Day but also some other foreign festivals are in vogue in recent years. Some people look down upon this phenomenon and think that this is just the blind worship of the foreign things. Is it really so?

Let’s first look at the names of the foreign festivals, such as Father’s day and Mother’s day. It is very warm and intimate. Everyone has father and mother. Such holidays will remind people of their parents naturally. And also when people hear Thanksgiving Day, they will spontaneously think of the people who have helped them a lot. All of these names can intrigue the deep and sincere feeling of people’s mind.

In addition to, these foreign festivals emphasize a lot on human emotion communication. They are filled with the air of human true emotion. The Santa Claus will bring gifts, at the same time hope, to children. Thus many moving stories happened on Christmas Day. Parents pay much in fostering children, but children hardly have a chance to say thanks to them. On Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, a bindle of carnation or a considerate gift will comfort parents’ hearts. In Valentine’s Day, why the rose, 2 Yuan in common days, will rise to 10 Yuan or even higher? The possible explanation may be because it represents the deep love between the lovers. In the modern society, people are driven by all kinds of pressure. They bustle about the important things in their mind while neglecting the most precious work in the world: to treasure the sincere feelings between people. People used t think that it is ok as long as they have love to family and friends. But things don’t go like this. The love will be eroded by time, so people need to show their true feelings to the dearest person around them. These festivals provide such chances to people to communicate with others sincerely.

It is a little disappointed that people cannot find such features in our traditional festivals. The deepest impression about our holidays is to have a big meal and have chances to go shopping or traveling. But all these can’t meet the emotional demand of people. Modern people are contradicted emotionally. On the one hand, people long for independence. They are indifferent to others; on the other hand, everyone needs other’s care and love. The appearance of the foreign festivals just meets people’s requirement. So it is justified that these foreign festivals get popular quickly.

The modern society makes people pay much attention to the material things. With the abundance of the materials, people still long for the harmonious relationship between people. The need of emotional communication has being urgent. The popularity of the foreign festivals just represents this need. It is not a blind worship of the foreign things in that these foreign festivals give us more chances to express our feelings.
