Teaching important points:  Use the sentence pattern: ①When did you go to Xinjiang?I went there in July. ②Did you go with your father and mother? Yes, I did. Teaching difficult points: Describe the directions of a place in China. Teaching aids: Multimedia show Teaching procedures: 1. Warm-up Have a chant of directions: North, north, north, we are facing to the north West, west, west, we are facing to the west South, south, south, we are facing to the south East, east, east, we are facing to the east 2. Lead-in Free talk Did you go to Wulian? Yes, I did. When did you go to Wulian? I went there on Sunday. Did you go with your father? Yes, I did. 3. Presenting and drilling (1)Show a photo of Xinjiang, and teach the word photo.  Describe the direction of Xinjiang (2)Show a photo of Hainan and describe the direction of Hainan.  (3)Show some names of places in China and ask the students try to read and try to find something. Then the teacher teaches how to write the names of places. (4)Practice the following sentences using the names of places.  Did you go to…..?Where is …..?   When did you go there?Did you go with your father and mother? (5)Play the tape and let the students find the answers of the questions while listening. 1. Where did Lingling go? 2. Where is Xinjiang? 3. When did she go? 4. Did Lingling go there with her father and mother? 5. Where does her uncle live?
