Teaching aims:

1.Develop the students’abilities of listening,speaking and reading

2. Learn the new words and review the Simple Present Tense and the Present Continuous Tense

Teaching aids: a tape recorder,some slides for shows,

exercises for Lesson 4,pictures

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1: Revision

Revise name dialogues

Revise English names :

David William Lewis the full name

Catherine Mary Jones the given /first name

Step 2 : Read and act

Ask the students to listen carefully

Play the tape again

Read the dialogue and act it out in pairs

Step 3 : Listening

Ask : What are we doing for this exercise?

Play the dialogue once, Check the answer

Step 4 : Read

Read the text and answer the following questions

1.Where is Phillip living?

2.How do people sometimes spell his name?

3.What name does Wang Jingjing want to give Phillip?

Step 5: Exercises in class
