　　The Dragon Boat FestivalThe fifth day of the fifth lunar month is the Dragon Boat Festival,one of the most important festivals in China.It is celebrated with special reference to the death of Qu Yuan,an officeal of Chu,who drowned himself in the river Milo on this day thousands of years ago.The Dragon Boat Festival,as its name indicates,is a day on which a dragon-boat race takes place.This is done to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan.This custom is still being observed as it used to be.Many pe-ople however,have already regarded it merely as a time for amuse-ment,without attaching the least historical significance to the day.

　　參考譯文：端午節五月初五是端午節，中國最重要的節日之一。這個節日是紀念數千年前楚國一位官員一一屈原，他在這天于汨羅江溺水身亡。端午節(龍舟節)，正像其名稱所指的那樣，是舉行龍舟比賽的日子，這樣做是紀念屈原的逝世。 這一習俗仍然保留至今。 然而今天，許多人已經僅僅把它作為是一種娛樂的活動，絲毫沒有把其歷史意義與這一天聯系起來。
