I liked the Autumn Festival very much when I was a small girl, because I was with my family then. On the evening of August 15 of the lunar calendar, when the moon was brightest, we always sat together outside in our yard to eat moon cakes--eaten only on this occasion——and enjoy the beautiful moonlight.
Mother would then tell me the story of the moon fairy Chang-o, who lived in a palace on the moon, with a jade rabbit for companion. I always imagined that I was the moon fairy whenever I heard the story. When I grew older, however, I was compelled to leave home for education in the city. And now I am living alone away from home. The August moon only serves to remind me of the lost happy days I had with my family in the country.

The Moon Festival, always celebrated on August 15 of the lunar calendar, is one of the most traditional of Chinese holiday. It is several hundred years old and many beautiful tales about it have been handed down from generation to generation.
On this day we eat a special kind of pastry called Moon Cake--it represents the moon and also means family reunion. It has long been a practice in our family to get together for a small moonlight party at the New Park on the evening of August 15.
Cousins and some friends sometimes join us. Sitting or lying on the soft grass, some of us chat happily and others listen to music. And amidst shouts and laughter of children chasing around excitedly, I sit quietly at a corner watching the bright, beautiful moon.

Today is another Mid-Autumn Festival. The brothers family has returned. Just after lunch, we set off to the wild with delicious mooncakes. In the wilderness, we encountered a mother and daughter pulling peanuts. So we came together to help. I pull up three trees and one tree at a time, doing it happily. But my brother can pull out five every time! Im surprised, how did he do it? After the peanuts were pulled out, we started pulling the cart towards the field and then carrying the peanuts onto the cart, causing me to sweat profusely and covered in soil. But I have a great sense of achievement.
As night fell, a beige, large, and round new moon slowly rose. We sat on the ground, eating delicious mooncakes, admiring the moon, and chatting about the sky
What a wonderful unforgettable Mid-Autumn Festival!
Today is Mid-Autumn Festival. As soon as I got home, I said to my parents, "Mom and Dad, lets go to dinner and set off fireworks after dinner!" My father said, "OK!"
After the reunion dinner, our family arrived at the square, where there were really many people. I took a fireworks bomb from my fathers hand and couldnt wait to let it go. My father said, "Dont worry, Ill come right now." After that, he slowly walked over like a snail and lit the fuse for me with a lighter. He whispered, "Whats the good thing about setting off fireworks? Its so cold and I still need to come out. I dont want to come out and let off fireworks at all
With a whoosh, my fireworks flew out of the pipe and merged with the fireworks in the sky to form a picture: a round moon in the middle, with Change sitting inside, and a jade rabbit helping her with medicine. There are also several stars shining next to it.
Dad was also infected after seeing it, and he also picked up a large fireworks and set it off. Wow, this is too beautiful! The fireworks rose to the sky, like countless flowers blooming. Dad said proudly, "See, Dad, I either wont take action or Ill scare you all if I do
After setting off the fireworks and returning home, our family sat on the balcony and began to admire the moon. At first, the sky was pitch black and I couldnt see anything. Just as I was about to leave, the moon was like a shy little girl covering half of her face. After a while, she revealed the true face of Mount Lushan. It turned out that "the moon is perfectly round at the Mid Autumn Festival" meant that.
At this moment, the moon is round and white, and I really want to "call it a white jade plate". At this moment, I think of my grandfather in the distance. Isnt this exactly "missing my loved ones twice during holidays"? Thinking of this, I couldnt help but recite: I hope people will last for a long time, and we will be together for a thousand miles
What a happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

I have been to many fun places this Mid Autumn Festival, among which the most fun is picking pears in my hometown.
Dad brought a rake, set up a ladder, climbed up a tree, and beat pears. Uncle picked up pears with a net bag. Mom and Auntie pulled up a long, shiny mesh and also came to pick up pears to prevent them from falling and breaking. I didnt want to be outdone either, so I exerted all my strength to grab this huge "fishing net" and helped pick up pears nearby, afraid that the mesh wouldnt catch.
Watching the pear he caught, his saliva flowed all over the ground, and he couldnt help but reach out and grab a large pear and deliver it to his mouth. I took a sip, ah, its really delicious! The white pear flesh and sweet pear juice are delicious.
As soon as Dad stops, I shout loudly, "Dad, Dad, come on, come on!" until I finish picking. Dad and uncle lifted a large basket of pears. Walking towards home amidst our laughter.
You see, I have a special meaning in this Mid-Autumn Festival!

I always look forward to the Spring Festival, the Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival) Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival... but what I want most is to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, which always brings me a warm memory
On the early morning of August 15th, my grandmother felt that the supermarket had bought a large box of mooncakes, and my sister stared greedily, eager to grab it and swallow it. Unfortunately, I could only watch my grandmother place it on the top of the cabinet, experiencing a painful feeling of being "visible but not touching".
Waiting is always so long, after spending several hours, we finally saw the curtain of darkness enveloping the sky. Our family sat on the balcony, waiting for the most important moment of today - appreciating the moon. The mischievous stars blinked their eyes, and a hazy light emerged from behind the clouds, so charming. The moon is about to come out! "Mom smiled and pointed at the sky. Everyones eyes stared at the sky without blinking, the hazy light bit by bit bright, revealing a jade like face, and a faint cloud enveloped the moon. The earth is bathed in a bright moonlight, expressing its praise for the moon in the language of a purple sky orchid. The night is peaceful and warm, and the gentle wind seems to be a homage to the moon. What a beautiful moon! Everyone was stunned, no one spoke, no one broke the peaceful atmosphere.
Eat mooncakes! "Grandma called out, and I grabbed a piece with my old sister and tasted it beautifully. Grandma hugged us and told us ancient folk stories such as Change running to the moon and Wu Gangs expedition against Guangxi. While eating mooncakes, she listened to the stories, which was the sweetest taste of happiness in childhood.
These memories always warm me up. Often in my dreams, I dream of the beautiful moon, that magical legend, and it seems that the fragrance of mooncakes still fills my mouth, unwilling to dissipate for a long time

Long, long ago, Hou Yi and Change were a couple. Because Hou Yi had meritorious deeds in shooting the sun, the Queen Mother gave Hou Yi some elixirs, and Hou Yi was entrusted to Change for safekeeping. Change put the medicine in the treasure chest, and one of Hou Yis students found out and went to grab the spiritual medicine. However, Change couldnt beat him, so she reluctantly swallowed the medicine. When Hou Yi returned home, he saw that there was no one at home and saw her shadow on the moon. He then placed an incense table in the back garden to invite Change back. Gradually, eating mooncakes and admiring the moon became customs.
People have joys and sorrows, and the moon has its ups and downs. Its difficult to complete this matter from ancient times. I hope people will last for a long time and share the joys and sorrows of a thousand miles. Now its not difficult for us to reunite, but when will Change be able to reunite? I really hope they can reunite!

the mid-autumn or moon festival is one rich in poetic significance. ancient legends that became interwoven with this festival‘s celebration further contribute to the warm regard in which it has always been held by the chinese people. according to the lunar calendar, the seventh, eighth, and ninth months constitute the autumn season. mid-autumn festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, precisely in the middle of this season, when the heat of the summer has given way to cool autumn weather, marked by blue skies and gentle breezes. on this day the moon is at its greatest distance from the earth; at no other time is it so luminous. then, as the chinese say, “the moon is perfectly round.” in the villages the heavy work involved in the summer harvest has already been completed but the autumn harvest has not yet arrived.
the actual origins of the mid-autumn festival are still very unclear. the earliest records are from the time of the great han dynasty emperor wu di (156-87 b.c.), who initiated celebrations lasting three days, including banquets and “viewing the moon” evenings on the toad terrace. we know that people during the jin dynasty (265-420 a.d.) continued the custom of mid-autumn festival celebrations, and similar accounts have come down to us from the time of the tang dynasty. during the ming dynasty (1368-1644) houses and gardens were decorated with numerous lanterns and the sound of gongs and drums filled the air.
moon cakes came on sale shortly before festival time. in the past, one could get some cakes shaped like pagodas, others like a horse and rider, fish or animals. still others were decorated with the images of rabbits, flowers, or goddesses. there were a myriad of different fillings available: sugar, melon seeds, almonds, orange peel, sweetened cassia blossom, or bits of ham and preserved beef. the cakes are of the northern and southern styles, but the latter (also called guangdong-style) are the most popular and are available throughout the country.
the round shape of cakes just symbolizes not only the moon but also the unity of the family. therefore the mid-autumn festival is actually a day for family reunion.

It was another Mid-Autumn Festival. In the evening, our family had a big dinner. We moved a small table on the balcony, put delicious fruits and sweet moon cakes on it, and began to enjoy the moon.
During the day, there was a shower of rain, and the sky was covered with clouds. As soon as the moon rose from the east, it was covered by clouds, like a girl covered in a veil.
The moon gradually moved westward and hid in the thick clouds, emitting a faint glow. We waited for a few minutes, and the moon showed its beautiful face again. Although not very bright, it still looks like a white jade plate. The moment the moon appeared, the clouds were filled with circles of colorful halos. Finally, the moon revealed all her features, and the round moon was like a large disk. What a beautiful and round moon! "I couldnt help but exclaim.
I seem to have seen the legendary Change and Jade Rabbit, as well as the beautiful palace where Wu Gang is chopping down trees.
Watching the moon and clouds playing hide and seek tonight, I couldnt help but think of an ancient poem: The moon has its ups and downs.
The night gradually deepened, and the sky became a bit cooler. The clouds in the sky gradually dissipated, and the silver moonlight spread all over the earth. The moon at fifteen is sixteen circles, tomorrows moon must be even rounder and brighter!
